Oasis Moving and Storage
Held personal belongings hostage and overcharged us by $1400

Our ripoff story below is something that is common practice with this company and can be validated on the following Las Vegas forum website: http://www.topix.com/forum/city/las-vegas-nv/T9DNUO53OSJ1D9MLU/p10

The item that is being disputed is the 2200 total cubic feet, which is the factor used to calculate the fees being charged. This number is a complete fabrication made up by Oasis Moving & Storage company headquarters.

The Oasis contracts are a fill in the blank form and process (labeled Revised Written Estimate). Please note that the documents were signed and dated prior to the actual items being loaded, and the actual cubic feet was blank and unknown at the time of signature. This 2200 figure used in calculating our fees due was something the company picked out of thin air and filled in after it was signed and our contents were en route. Proof of them filling in the blanks afterwards can be provided, and you will see all the blanks filled in from their copy vs. Our copy.

In addition to the 2200 cubic feet being fictitious, the original contract we had was through Budget Van Lines, the company who brokers out to Oasis. All estimates and communication through Budget was that fees were to be calculated based upon weight of contents being moved. Oasis refused to weigh it as per the original estimate after all items were already loaded on the truck and en route. An email from Budget Van Lines surrounding this can be supplied as documentation to substantiate this.

Per the company representative or delivery driver, the number that was called into the corporate office while en route was 1750 cubic feet. After numerous conversations with the delivery driver, he apologized many times and said he could not explain to us why the corporate office wanted to charge us excess cubic feet. After our numerous futile conversations with the corporate office, we were informed that our belongings would not be delivered if we did not pay the remaining balance in cash at the erroneous cubic feet.

The exact cubic feet was substantiated upon delivery of our belongings at 1700 cubic feet. We have photographs to prove the space used on the truck for our contents which can be presented. The remainder of the items in the photograph are from another persons move and can be verified by the driver. Each rung on the wall represents a cubic foot and 17 are displayed. This measurement was explained by the driver and pictures also allowed as he knew we were being taken advantage of by the company.

The "Revised Written Estimate" that can be supplied, indicates the price per cubic foot is $2.80 ($6160/2200 = $2.80). If we were charged the correct 1700 cubic feet space used in our move, we would have been charged correctly at 1700 x $2.80 totaling $4,760. $6,160 charge less the correct charge of $4,760 = $1400 which is the disputed amount.

The estimated balance due was paid in the following manner: $2500 via credit card (which was charged days after the loading/pick up and while our belongings were en route, and is when the corporate office created a fictitious number), and the remainder $2,457 was paid via cash in order to obtain our ransomed belongings (which was already 2 days later than they stated).

Documents or proof can be supplied for all items mentioned in our complaint.
