Tried to charge me 65% more than estimate Tried to hold my furniture hostage Left my furniture unassembled

On Fri April 16 I was given a quote for $350 (2 movers and 4 hours of labor at $70 per hour) a local move (14.5 miles) on Thurs April 22. The person that I talked to called me at my home phone number. I was told that the movers would arrive between 1-3pm. On April 20, I received a phone call saying the movers would arrive between 2-4pm. My initial contact with the company was via e-mail and my e-mails have my contact info (i.E. Home & cell phone number) at the bottom.

After running some errands, I arrived home on Thurs April 22 at 2:20pm. The movers (3 men) were there & said that they had been waiting since 1:30pm & had no way to contact me. The only number they tried to call was my work number (I was out of the office b/c I was moving). If they had called my house number & left a message, it would have rung to my cell phone.

They started packing at 3:00pm. Only one of the movers, the "foreman", spoke English. They did not know how to disassemble my bed, my friend had to show and help them. Once at my destination (6:30pm) I was told to pay the full balance $560 or they would not unload the truck ($80 per hour for 3 workers for 4.5 hours). This included $120.87 for packing supplies (blankets and tape) that they used to wrap a dresser, a chesser, a nightstand, a desk, and 3 mattresses. After a call to the "manager" it was dropped by $80. That brought the total to $480. I gave the foreman $380 then and gave him the other $100 when they "finished". During this time I had to tell the foreman not to smoke around my furniture in the truck. They lost the screws to my mirror/dresser & bed so they were left unassembled. They have not returned my phone calls even though they know I have filed a complaint with the BBB. I also may call INS since I think their workers may not be legal.
