Marts seeks revenge against customers for cancellation of service

I signed up with Marts Oil Service in 2008 and service was initally ok until 2010. I was charged more per gallon of oil than my price protection agreement cap. When I called the customer service line I was told that due to the cost of oil being so high they were charging all customers a higher rate. I complained that I had price protection to guard against this. The response - oh well, too bad.

I cancelled my account with them in August but I was told that I was still responsible for the price protection contract for the 2011 - 2012 season as this contract is non refundable. I told them I didn't sign up for the contact this year and since I didn't pay for the contract there was nothing to refund just take it off my account and close the account. The customer service operator I spoke with told me too bad, they will not take the charge off my account. She said they will send me to collections instead.
Within the last week I have received 7 notices from Marts for past due charges and collection fees. I went from a zero balance to over $596.00 just for attempting to cancel my account. I have now had to pay a lawyer to fight with this predatory company.
