Apparently Hassock Doesn't Learn From Past Mistakes and Hasn't Changed Their Behavio

Stay away!!! A simple job on a 12 inch seat cushion and she can't get it right. We provided the old foam, the chair bottom, the MATERIAL and asked her to rehupulster it. Simple enough you would think. Not so with this so called 45 year professional. RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNYIELDING, NASTY and cannot admit HER OWN MISTAKE on an under $25.00 job!!! Then when you get annoyed with her AFTER she takes nearly 5 months to incorrectly do the work properly, she hangs up instead of saying, "I'm sorry I made a mistake and I'll fix it." She also refuses to return property that was brought into her after the fact to help her visualize her mistake.

What happens is she losses the material provided herthe old foam cushion, material and wooden chair seat for monthsIN HER OWN SHOP. When she finally finds it after months and countless unreturned phone calls to her, she then claims now she only can find the material but don't worry I know what needs to be done and will take care of it.

After a month passes she asks that we bring the actually bottom of the chair in because now since she isn't sure how to cut the material. We wait another month (never hear from her after many again unreturned calls) so we go in person to pick it up... It's a clear and OBVIOUS disaster. Her own son was there when we went to pick it up and even he admits that he sees it's wrong. He tells us "no big deal, we'll fix it, no problem" We are reasonable so we cordially say okay
and to call us when it's done.

Two weeks later the owner now calls and won't admit the error to my wife and tries to argue that it's correct. Why? Because she knows it's wrong, she ruined and ran out of material we provided to her and doesn't know what to do but try to lie her way out of it.

She (OWNER) double talks my wife who is as passive as any human can be and she tries to B.S. Her way out of it to my wife unaware that I am listening in the background.

The problem is that it could be fixed but the owner won't admit that the real problem now is there is no more material to fix it due to her shoddy workmanship. Realizing, it the owner now begins to blame everyone from the manufacturer of the chair... To trying to say the brackets which were manufactured onto to the chair itself AT THE FACTORY are backwards. They are bolted on and there is no reason to remove them even when reupholstering the cushion. The cushion seat merely screws off from the bottom.

When my wife tries to explain why it's wrong the OWNER starts getting defensive due to her inability to admit her error and the dilemma of no material. Thats the real issue. She has no more material that we gave her to do the job and therefore the only way to save face is to lie and make excuses. She could have offered other material that she had in her inventory as replacement for her error and we may have gone along with it just to get it done. Even that bit of common sense seemed to escape her.

It's issue simple. If SHE DIDN'T LOSE the original foam cushion. It could have all been avoided had she overseen the work and didn't try to double-talk her way out of the error.

Picture a 12 in. Round piece of foam that sits on a 12 in round piece of wood that attaches (screws) onto a chair bottom.
The wooden seat has a 2-3 inch wide cut out on the seat to allow the back bracket to be attached to the chair. Its there so you can screw the seat back onto it. KEEP in mind the original cushion was ROUND. The original material was stapled
up to the small cut out and the material (2-3) inches just gets flapped under. When you screw the wooden seat
and cushion onto the seat bottom the screws create a downward pressure holding the little flap in place. EXACTLY THE WAY THE ORIGINAL CUSHION THAT SHE LOST WOULD HAVE SHOWN HER!

When the cushion is reattached to the chair bottom from underneath, presto a ROUND chair cushion like the original.

What does this 45 year professional do you ask? She cuts the new foam AND material with the cut out in the cushion seat so that what you have looks ridiculous and is CLEARLY wrong. The bracket attachment shows. A chair cushion with the 2-3 inch cut out exposing the UNDERLYING bracket. Its so blatantly obvious that a 3 year old could see her error. HER OWN son admitted it was wrong when we first went to pick it up WHICH is exactly why he said what he did (see above).

When the error is brought to HER attention and KNOWING she has no material left she gets annoyed and refuses to fix it and she tries to argue its correct and the hangs up the phone. I called her back and asked for the chair back and she refuses to return it. She says she spent enough time on it.

Bear in mind she has NOTHING invested but her shoddy workmanship. All materials where provided by me and the only reason she has the original chair is that she asked to see it since she wasnt sure how it was supposed to look due to her losing the original cushion seat. We have gone out of our way to help her fix her own error.

Who wouldn't be TOTALLY annoyed with this cartoonish behavior after 5 months of her self-created nonsense. She actually had the nerve to say that she spent too much time on this small job. WHOSE FAULT IS THAT? Mine? SHE LOST THE MATERIAL AND WHEN SHE FOUND IT SHE DID THE WORK WRONG AND CAN'T CORRECT IT BECAUSE OF HER OWN MISTAKE?

When I tried to call her back she would either childishly hang up, or she would just keep repeating that she is right and she has 45 years in the business. She ties to argue that I have "lying eyes" and that I don't know what I'm talking about even when I'm the one who took it apart to begin with.

When I told her I was going to small claims court that is when she refused to return the chair. I suspect she doesn't want me to have my own property back to show the judge how wrong she is.

You will love her reply.
"She's lost money and she's not returning it even after I told her I would go to small claims court. What money? As I stated above, I provided ALL materials including the foam. All she had to do was cut the foam into a round piece, overlay the material and staple it to the wooden seat. Thats it. I was going to reassemble the chair. She likely spent all of 5 minutes doing the actual incorrect work. I would have done it myself but I thought it might look better if a professional did it since it was to be such an inexpensive job. Boy, were we wrong. I could likely have done it better myself. At least I would have been smart enough not to make a cut out in whats to be a round cushion.

Her only investment in the whole project is 5 minutes of
unskilled labor and 5 months of losing materials and excuses.

I provided, the original foam as a guide. I provided the material. When she lost the original I brought the whole chair and chair back in so she could see what to do and SHE still screws it up and expects us to not only accept it, but pay for it.

Imagine what she would do to your whole living room set and
should there be an error on HER part... God help you... It's YOUR fault.

I see by another posters comments they experienced almost the same situation and were subjected to her piss-poor attitude as well and her refusal to admit a mistake. Likewise she tried to blame it on someone else just like how she responded to my situation.

She may be in the business 45 years as she claims but her demeanor, workmanship, unprofessionalism and attitude bespeaks a person with about 45 minutes experience.
