Contact me for Legal Filing against Low Country Van Lines - IF they have extorted money from you

I contracted with this company to transport my household items from Florida to Texas. They doubled the original estimate after they got to my home and had already loaded half of my items onto the truck. They told me the reason for the increase is that my items are 'bigger' than the normal item. A night stand is a night stand. Who are they kidding. I am a single Mother with two small children and a very clean home. I don't have alot of things. I ended us having to leave behind more than a third of my original items I wanted to have transported because the expense was getting too high.

They also added on additional costs because of the packing material they used for the furniture items and a few boxes. For a single wardrobe cardboard box, they charged $15. They were to have my items delivered in Texas on on August 20 or 21st. They picked up my items on August 14th.

The salesperson that I spoke to who did the estimate, Keith, I called the number when they were trying to increase the pricing and no one answered. He told me that the phone rings to his cell phone and he will be there to answer during the move if anything happened. To this day, Sept. 1st, I still haven't talked to Keith. However, everytime I did call, I got a guy that sounded the same but gave me a different name. So far, the names are Dennis, Keith, Matt and Mike... And they are all supposedly managers.

I did not hear anything for the entire weekend of the 20th - 21st, I called the office on the 22nd and got a Yolanda. She informs me that my things are still in FL and they had unloaded my things and put them in a warehouse. No one told me of this. I thougth they were driving my things straight to TX and picking up other shipments on the way.

At that point, I asked to speak to the owner, Taube C. Medley, and she said he was out of town. Then I called the cell phone of the guy that packed my items - I had the number in my cell from when he called to confirm my address... He said to ask to speak to a Mike. I called back and spoke to Mike, after Yolanda put me on hold for 15 mins. Mike tells me that he will talk to Mr. Medley about compensating me for the additional time that I now have to continue staying in a hotel. He said he would call me on Wednesday, when Mr. Medley comes back in town and to the office.

Wednesday, comes and goes. On Thursday, I call and Yolanda says Mike is not in the office and Mr. Medley had not been to the office. She said my things had been loaded onto the truck from a warehouse in FL. I asked when will it be delivered, she then said she did not know.

I called back on Friday and got Mike or Keith or Dennis or Matt on the phone and I asked him what is the status with them compensating me for my steadily increasing hotel expenses. He said that he hadn't seem Mr. Medley. I told him that I was taping our conversation, he said he did not care because he had nothing to hide.

I asked him when my things would be delivered and he said it would be sometime over the weekend but he could not give me a date nor time. As if I was going to believe that. So I went ahead and booked additional days in the hotel and went shopping for clothes myself and my children. I paid for a ticket for my Mother to fly back to FL - she was in TX to help with the unpacking - as I did not want her to continue seeing this unfortunate situation unravel and continue worrying.

I missed days from work because I thought the movers would deliver my items as promised. I get a call on Saturday evening at 8:46PM CST saying that they would deliver my items the next morning between 9:30AM - 12PM on Sunday and they demanded cash only.

I did not have the money all in cash so we agreed to Monday morning. My things arrived Monday morning.

I missed 3 days of work, dealing with this company and their lies about the delivery dates and not informing me in advance that my items weren't even in transit for 5 days. Hotel expenses, additional gas expenses for longer travel, meals out everyday to feed my children, additional school supplies - since I did not have the items I already purchased because they were in my items that were being transported.

After reading the posts on usacomplaints.com - they resonated with me as all of our stories are very similiar. This company is not reputable, liars, extortionist, hold your things hostage, consumer abuse, and inflating the average customers cost beyond belief.

I filed a case with the DOT # 100052506, also a complaint with AMSA. And moving forward to sue. I would like others to join me in the lawsuit. I would like witnesses, customers, etc. They are taking hard earned money out of our pockets for our families and we can't let them get away with this.

I can't include my email nor phone number in this report. But please check craigslist under dallas texas section under SERVICES under labor/move. You will see my petition and request for others to contact me for us to pull together and bring justice to this unprofessional company and people.

I've moved several times before and never had any issues. So they are giving the moving business a very bad name.

The mover has not delivered my goods. Estimated delivery date from FL to TX was August 20 - 21st. It is currently August 26th and I have been in a hotel with two small children that had to start school without any of their things.

I had to pay for additional hotel costs, clothes and shoes for me and my kids, eating out every day for breakfast and dinner.

Additional gas expenses from driving kids from hotel to school, then back 1 hour to work then to their school in the afternoon - 1 hr and them back to hotel. This is my drive everyday. They told me they took my goods off the truck in FL and stored it for 5 days. They say that 2 days ago, they re-loaded my shipment and was estimating that it would be delivered today, tomorrow or Sunday. Still they could not give a day nor time.
