www.BackgroundChecks.com
Legal Theft

I signed up for the personal background check at www.backgroundchecks.com and created an account with my full first and last name.
The information stated that you can only pull up a background check on yourself.

They then ask you to type in the name of the person that you want a background check on.

I then waited 3 days for the email to arrive stating the check had been completed. I never received this email.

I then called support to find out why I had not received the report. They told me that I could not be verified. They stated that I needed to send in private documents and a copy of my drivers license so the manual validation process could be completed.

I sent in the documents as requested.

I then followed up later in the afternoon to see if they received the documents.

At this point I was told the documents would make no difference because I misspelled my last name and was told there was nothing they could do to correct the issue.
I question this as they already have this information via the account setup process. Why do they not match the profile information with the background check when they stated you can only request a check on yourself?

I told them that would be fine, but I wanted my money back as I did not receive any services. I was told that would be impossible. I then very clearly asked them so I paid $39.95 for nothing is this correct? I was told sorry but yes that is the situation.

I called my credit card company and told them I would like to challenge the charges.

The credit card company contacted www.backgroundchecks.com who responded with the fine print in the agreement and consent section of the web site. My challenge was denied!

Why does a company like this feel they can steal from customers? Taking money and blatantly providing no services is stealing!
Why would they not want to just correct the name to match the profile giving me the service I paid for?

Is it because they feel they can do this to people with a criminal history? Maybe they think these people will roll over and not complain?
Either way it is wrong to know that you are not providing the service the customer paid for and still not return the money.
