I ordered a "home employment program" booklet for $56.85 back in November, I looked at it and it only had job listings for the lower 48; that's fine for those folks, yet I live in Alaska and do not plan on re-locating to look for work. I wanted the book since it said that you could find at home work anywhere in the USA. They should not have taken my money when they knew damn good and well that there were no job listings in that book for Alaska. I sent it back well withing their time limit; then they chose to send me a letter saying I "destroyed" their book by "breaking the spine", which I DID NOT do, and then said that I left writing indentations on it. I never wrote in or on that book and I did not break any part of the book. It was just a paper back book, and naturally, when you open it, the spine did show some wear, BUT I DID NOT BREAK THE SPINE OF THE BOOK, nor did I ever write on it. I sent it back in the same box it came in, and for some reason, they said I could buy it back if I paid $6.90 to "buy back" my "damaged" book.
They would not listen to me even after I wrote a nice letter, and then I wrote a not so nice letter. These people said they "could not re-sell" the book due to the "damage". I told them that every company has a sales returns and allowances account and that they should reimburse me since I did return the book within 90 days and I did not damange the book like they claimed I did.
I do not believe what they said to me in their last letter by saying to me that they owe me nothing and I will get no refund. They are a dishonest company and did not want to give me back my money. They are so ignorant of the facts, since I told them that I was specifically looking for work in Anchorage, Alaska, where I live, and knowing full well there were no job listings in that book at all for Alaska, that they should not have even sent me that book in the first place and they should have returned my check back to me rather than cash it (which they did immediately), and then tell me that I "destroyed" their book, which I did nothing of the kind. This company claims they've been in business for 14 years—you'd think that they would know what they are selling and the fact that I did explain clearly that I am looking for work in Anchorage, Alaska, that they still sent me their stupid, useless book to me anyhow, and then stole my money and said they never plan on reimbursing me for it.
I just couldn't believe their audacity when they said that I could buy "my damaged book" back for $6.90; which I promptly told them that they could shove the book up their asses and that I would not want the book back even if they paid the postage to "return" it to me. This, to me was an outright deception on their part, then, they lied to me to make me out to be the bad guy for "destroying" their book. This just didn't make any sense whatsover by selling me a book that they should have known would be of NO USE AT ALL TO ME SINCE I LIVE IN ALASKA, but, nooooooo, they sent it to me anyhow, and promptly cashed my check, and then refused a refund, when they said that I was entitled to get one if I returned the book within 90 days, which I did in fact do. I just want this company to know that I am not satisfied with their ripping me off, for information that they had to know would not help me in the least. I'm unemployed, and $56.85 is a lot of money to me to just flush down the toilet—that's the way I feel about what they did to me, but they still didn't care about the fact that they HAD TO HAVE KNOWN THAT THIER SO CALLED JOB DIRECTORY HAD NO ANCHORAGE ALASKA JOB LISTINGS IN IT WHATSOEVER.
Besides, the book was a cheap paper back, and when you opened it, there was no way around putting a crease in the spine of the book—which they said I "broke the spine" of the book and that it had writing indentations on it.
I never, ever wrote on that book in anyway, since I made notes from it on a separate piece of scrap paper. So, it was not my indentations that were on that book—it could have been done by the post office or even someone in THEIR office, then they have the audacily to blame me for "destroying" their book, which I know for a fact was not at all true. These people are out to get anyone they can to sell their book to, no matter where they live, they just really fell down on the job regarding customer service. Their brochure that I got and still have boasted 14 years of helping people find jobs and work at home, which I find that also hard to believe.
I accused them of being full of it and they didn't like the tone of my letter, and said they owe me nothing, and would not reimburse me and that "this matter is closed". That's all I have to say about this "company" that claims thousands of satisfied customers around the USA, but that evidently doesn't include Alaska and they just ingnored the facts of my letter to them when I included my check to them.
I told them specifically I was looking for work to do in my home in Anchorage, Alaska, and I never told them that I was planning to relocate, so they basically took my money for something that they already knew in advance was never going to help me in the least. I am telling the truth here—there were no job listings of any sort available in alaska in their "book" yet they sent it to me anyhow, then made up a story as to why they couldn't or wouldn't pay me back. NOW THAT'S A RIPOFF IF I EVER HEARD ONE! Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.
