This is the absolute worst experience I've ever had in a rental property. I was a perfect tenant in an apartment on the Plaza and had paid my rent on time every month. Twenty-five days before I moved out, a fire broke out in the apartment above me. I was not informed by a phone call and found out at 1 A.M. That morning when I was coming home. The apartment had tremendous smoke, fire and water damage. It was unliveable, the ceiling was falling in and the walls were coming down. Everything smelled like smoke. I had to move out immediately. I was told that I would be repaid for the remaining month's rent, but still have not received any payment (8/01). I was also expecting a $200 deposit. The management/owners were such jerks and treat everyone unfairly. These are Park Plaza and Melbourne Apartments on the Plaza in Kansas City, MO.
