I bought a subscription through Rite Price Magazines in January. Their website looked legit and unfortunately I did not check them out first. I gave them my credit card no. To charge me $100 for People magazine.
They tell you for various reasons that it takes 8-12 weeks for it to start. I waited and waited and at 13 weeks decided I better check it out. When you email you get no response and the phone number they have listed on the website just keeps ringing and ringing, not even a way to leave a message.
At that point I went online and found that tons of people have had the same problem with this company. Some even had unauthorized charges after that on their credit card. Luckily that did not happen to me, but they still got $100 off me. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau of New York, but of course they say they've not gotten a response from them. I'm sure I'll never see that money, but I learned a valuable lesson. Just because a website looks legitimate doesn't mean it is. I will be more careful in the future.
