I had Lauren Kelly assigned as the Child and Family Investigator (CFI) in my child relocation case and I found her to be unprofessional, dishonest, and incompetent. The report that she filed with the court was not only late, but also incomplete, highly inaccurate, and blatantly biased. It was also poorly written. There should be a law against what she did! (The whole CFI concept is absolutely ridiculous anyway and should be abolished or seriously changed as it is!).
Lauren never spoke to my daughter's teacher, my ex's psychotherapist, my roommate (who rents a room from me and who would be living there while my children were there), or ANY of my references. She then said in her report that none of these contacts were necessary! Was she serious? Lauren simply didn't have time to speak to any of these contacts and she had her mind made up anyway.
Lauren also conveniently forgot to include certain facts in her report that would have been favorable to my case and instead made my ex look like "mother of the year." She also misrepresented conversations that we had and scolded me at one time, saying that I made her late for a meeting by keeping her on the phone too long while I was telling her about a situation that I felt was important to my case.
Lauren also lied to me by telling me that my work schedule would not affect her decision... Then when the report came in, guess what? My work schedule was the MAIN reason she gave for her recommendation that my children be relocated to Colorado Springs with my ex (I live north of Denver).
My girls wanted to stay with me so that they could remain in the school that they were familiar with, but instead of including that in the report, Lauren simply said that she never asked the girls where they wanted to be (even though CFIs are required determine the wishes of the child/ren).
Lauren cut our second meeting short saying that she needed to get "two other reports done by the end of the week." Then in her report, she said that it was ME that cut the meeting short! I had actually asked her stay and she left anyway! That, no matter how you look at it, is a lie! She should be ashamed of herself (but something tells me she isn't!).
I could seriously go on and on about how poorly Lauren handled my case but I really don't feel like writing a book... If she truly believes that she presented the court with a fair, accurate, and complete report, then the woman is delusional. For the record though, I think she knows that she dropped the bomb on this case... I sent her an email telling her about the issues I had with her services... And she refused to even read it, saying that she was no longer on the case. Shameful!
I would recommend staying away from Lauren Kelly as a CFI. I paid her almost $2000 for an absolutely worthless report... A report that was obviously not completed as the result of any "investigation, " but rather as the result of an overworked and biased CFI who was more interested in collecting a check than she was in maintaining the best interests of my children. This is the biggest rip-off I have ever been a part of... One that was sanctioned and enforced by the courts.
BTW: Let me also say that this is about as nice as I could possibly express my complaints about Lauren... If I were any less tactful, you'd hear what I really think:) This is the very short *clean* version of what I really think.
