I worked for Jason Sullivan, co-founder of Guardian Lion wireless, for a brief time (from October through December) and this man is looking for free work!
Heres my story:
I responded to an add on craigslist for a part time work from home position doing a public relations for Jason. He had a client named Robert Shemin, a wealthy Real Estate agent from Tennessee, who he was trying to get exposure for, and he hired me and one other girl to help.
At first everything was great, but I was still a little sketched out about it. He paid us in cash and made us drive to meet him at his condo where he paid us 300 dollars a week to work.
After a few weeks of work, I took some time to move around since I could do the work from anywhere with an internet connection, (this was in November) and me an Jason agreed that he would pay me when I got back.
Early December he contacted me and the other girl who was working and said that we were taking a break over the holidays since there wasnt much work to do for Robert (his client) at that time, and we would reconvene after the New Year. I had done 3 weeks worth of work that he owed me $900 for and he said he would pay me after I got back in town.
That Never happened.
I was supposed to start work on January 3rd, but I couldnt get in touch with Jason. I called him every other day but he never responded. He finally got back to me end of January and said some people were very late getting the payment to him. So he didnt even have the money to pay me in the first place!
I called him and called him and asked for an explanation. The only answer I got was that the project with Robert didn't go as well as he planned, but the bottom line is I never got my money.
We never filed a W2 or 1099, so there is no record of this, so on paper, this never happened. I know there is no way I can prove any of this this, but trust me, if you work for him, he could SCAM you! This is how he works, gets people to work for him paying cash and then isn't willing to pay them after they have done the work. DO NOT work for this guy! He borrows money from people and is very smooth talking. He never answers your questions directly.
He also has a website guardianlion.com where he sells a gps watch, (Jason Sullivan is involved in several projects) but I cant speak for the legitimacy of that website. It is most likely legit. But I CAN say that you should NOT do any work from home for him unless you have agreements in writing and fill out tax forms. And even then, I wouldnt work for a guy who is unwilling to pay someone for work they have done for him. Dont work for jason sullivan in miami!
