These people have called us endlessly attempting to provide us with credit card processing. Talk about harrassing phone calls. OK, so you want our business... So we decided to check them out. We found some interesting things...
When any business in South Carolina is operating by selling products or services in any county or municipality, that business is required by law to have a business license for that municipality or county. Operate in 10 counties or municipalites and you need 10 business licenses. And the cost for each business licence is paid on the gross sales amount done in that county or municipality.
1) Merchant Cooperative has operated since 2005 without a valid Charleston City Business License.in 2005 their original business license expired. (they must owe the city of Charleston and other municipalities hundreds of thousands of dollars by now) We have checked with several surrounding municipalities where they say they operate and none have any records of business licensing.
2) These people love to go to court! They are either sueing or being sued in virtually every court in this part of South Carolina.
3) You may want to think real hard before doing business with these people.
