My dad held the family together. I was 5 years old. Pepsi-cola seemed like a cool job for my dad. We recieved Christmas gifts when I was 5. My dad was a truck driver for Pepsi-cola. At that time I didn't understand why my father got sick. My dad was my hero. And to see him disoriented was not right. My father was a hard worker. He worked multiple jobs.
I was told that the trucks he drove used propane. And everytime he'd fill up the truck, it would make him nauseous. He would come home with the shakes. Mom had worked at a factory, she couldn't handle the cold weather there. So both my parents decided we move to Sacramento.
My father's health started to deteriorate. He could not walk anymore, his body would shake, and his eyes would shake. I asked myself why? We came to find out that there was another employee who had the same symptoms and passed away in a short time. Eventually the same would lead to my father's death. Through out this time we never recieved help from Pepsi-Cola. Throughout the years our dad was slowly dieing, as tried with our efforts and prayers. My mom struggled to take care of us as we were growing up.
My dad died 9 years ago. I miss my dad. I am finally coming forward now, I was 16 then. Back then we all felt helpless. We didn't know what to do and who to turn to.
This bothered me for years. My mom one time joked about Pepsi-cola to get our minds off it, reminding us of what happened to our dad. See when we lossed our dad our family struggled. I worked and still do to help out my family. I have got nothing against Pepsi. I just want to share with you our loss. The anxiety felt over years can be healed. But losing my dad can never replace what could have been.
