11000 Roosevelt BLVD Shoprite Very Unfair Treatment By Unkind Employees

I had been going to this Shoprite off and on only occasionally since April because it's a 20 minute walk, 40 minutes up and back and I had never had any problems there. Recently I was there one evening and I pointed to their Deli garlic turkey breast, which is like a gourmet homestyle type of *real* turkey breast that has been in their deli front glass case for some time now, and I asked as I had quite a few times in the past, for a half of a pound of it. I also bought some roast beef, low-fat American cheese and ham. I was exhausted from not sleeping well for almost 2 months, and I had been up since 12 am the night before so I was awake for almost 24 hours, plus I had already walked up to this far away shopping center a few hours before to go to a few other stores there but I didn't have my refrigerated insulated bag with me.

So I went home and went to another small local Russian market across the street to get some other things and after I went home and put this stuff away, I walked back up to the same far away shopping center and went to Shoprite. I was so tired I didn't look at the price on the turkey breast package and since I had gotten it there quite a few times, I knew that a half of a pound doesn't cost 10$, I only bought a pound of it there once because it's expensive. I had seen it there in their deli case a while before a few times and at first didn't get it because I wasn't sure I would like it. So eventually I asked them if I could taste it, and I liked it.

I am trying to keep my weight down and not eat more than 3 low-fat low-calorie meals in one day, so I ate the roast beef first and cooked some other things. I usually eat deli for 3 or 4 days. So I didn't open the turkey breast package until Sunday morning and I had bought it Friday night, and I was shocked and upset to discover it wasn't the same quality real turkey breast but the terrible processed type made out of fillers! So I called and told this to a woman who works slicing deli there, and the deli manager and they unkindly and unbelievably repeatedly denied that they ever carried the quality good type that I bought there more than a few times! I had to have the emotional and physical distress of having to argue and try to convince them that I am telling the truth, but because they didn't want to look bad and admit that *they* made a mistake and did something wrong, they made me feel bad and tried to make me seem as If I was making this up!

I called their manager and he too said that the women in the deli said they never carried this type. So I called several other Shoprites in my city and asked if they carry a dry homestyle garlic turkey breast, and they said yes it's called Black Bear and I spoke to a manager of another Shoprite who was really nice and understanding. He said they are just jerking you around, they should have just said we're sorry we made a mistake, and he said your not crazy they are. He said he wouldn't even go there any more and that there are plenty of other markets around. I also spoke with a nice young woman who slices deli at this Shoprite and she said they just are covering their behinds because they don't want to admit they did something wrong. Several of these other Shoprites also told me that they display the Black Bear garlic pepper turkey breast right in their front glass case.

A couple of hours later after I spoke to the nasty creeps at the Shoprite that I have gone to for 5 years, and after I spoke with the nice people at the other one, I looked to see if I still had any of my old Shoprite receipts, and a few months ago I had finally thrown out old CVS and Shoprite receipts from years ago, but I did still have two more recent Shoprite receipts, one from the end of November when I bought deli sliced chicken instead of turkey for the first and since only time, and a receipt from October when I bought a half of a pound of their garlic turkey breast that cost $6.59, and this slimy fake processed garlic turkey breast was only 3.21 for a half of a pound, but on the old receipt and the new one they both say BLVD Garlic Turkey Breast!

I called back the manager of this store the next day and told him about this October receipt and he said I could bring it and show him but he wasn't much nicer about it than he was before.

When I called the deli manager back at this Shoprite and told her that I spoke with several people who work in the deli department at other Shoprites and they told me that they do display their garlic turkey breast in their front case, she said I couldn't have seen it in the case, when I had pointed to it and asked for it there quite a few times before, and there is only one garlic turkey breast in their front case, they have it with a barbecued turkey breast, roast beef, potato salad, coleslaw etc and you can't mistake it since it has a piece of paper right next to it that says, Garlic Turkey!

So I called and spoke to 3 different customer service agents on 1-800-Shoprite and the first one didn't even say she was sorry about how badly I was treated for no good reason and totally unnecessarily (and they are also supposed to be kind understanding people on this customer service number!) she just took down notes about this, but the second customer service agent said coldly she was sorry, and the third one was only a little nicer and she said I'm sorry it was handled this way, and that it seems several employees were involved and that they made you seem like a liar. And this is what I am so angry about, not that they gave me the wrong item, which I told the woman from Human Resources from Shoprite who called me the next day, that instead of saying to me what that manager of the other Shoprite said they should have said, we're sorry we made a mistake, and that because they didn't want to look bad and admit that *they* made the mistake, they denied that they had carried this, and made me seem like I was lying, and I'm a nice honest person who can't even tell a little white lie unless I'm in physical danger!

The woman who called me back from Human Resources from this Shoprite said she was really sorry they treated me this way, and that she couldn't explain it, (I can explain it, they aren't nice honest people!) and she said that she doesn't want to, loose me as a customer and she was sending me (which she did) a 25$ gift card for the store and she said she wants me to be happy shopping at the store and she wants to meet me there so I can show my proof to them of the October receipt that I did buy a quality real garlic turkey breast that it called the same exact thing on both receipts but the good kind costs 3 and half $ more that I had bought there several different times before!

A deli manager at an Acme market and a few others in other Shoprites told me that they could have put in the wrong code, or they could be using the same code for the cheaper poor quality garlic turkey breast and calling it the same thing, which is totally wrong to do to customers! The nice Acme deli manager told me that it would never have been handled like that there, and she said she admits when her employees made a mistake and that sometimes they put the wrong code in and gave people the wrong thing, and sometimes with senior citizens, they get very upset if an employee accidentally charges them 14$ for an item that was only 9$.

Anyway, this whole upset was totally unjustified!

No, venice09, I was the one who was treated very unfairly, and I have the proof as I clearly explained that Shoprtite's deli department is the one who made the mistake and then denied it, and made me have to argue with them and and because they didn't want admit *they* made the mistake (as I already said that nice manager of the other Shoprite said, that they are just jerking you around, instead of saying we're sorry we made a mistake, and he said you're not crazy they are! And he said he wouldn't even go there anymore and that there are plenty of other markets around and I also said that a nice young woman who works in this same Shoprite's deli department said they are just covering their behinds because they don't want to admit they did something wrong) and did something wrong, they made me seem like I was making this up, but my October receipt which proves that I did buy a garlic turkey breast that was called the exact same thing, BLVD Garlic turkey breast, that cost 6.59$ for a half of a pound that as I said, I bought there more than a few times before, and that they denied they ever carried it there and the wrong cheap fake processed one they gave me cost only 3.21!

And as I also already said, a woman from the Human Resources from this Shoprite called me and was nice and said she was really sorry that they acted this way and that she can't explain why, and she said as she said in a letter she sent me, that she wants me to have good experiences shopping at her store. She also said to me in the phone conversation that she doesn't want to loose me as a customer and she sent me a 25$ gift card. And she wants to meet me at this store to show them the October receipt I have that proves I'm right, and she said twice that she believes me.

You would feel very differently if this happened to you! Honestly, there is no point in posting on this site when you don't even get empathetic supportive responses for being treated unjustly!
