I purchased a Minuteman Press Franchise in 1997. It was the worst commercial decision of my life. The business was located in the UK & sold to me by an American Executive VP called George Holzmacher.
Holzmacher made earnings & profit claims which later turned out to be untrue. The figures he gave broke turnover into thirds i. E 1/3 Fixed & operating costs, 1/3 cost of goods & 1/3 profit.
These figures were entered into my business plan with Holzmacher's full approval. The figures were grossly incorrect & the business was not commercially viable. I have subsequently closed down losing a considerable amount of money in the process.
I have also learned that Minuteman Press International have a long history of misrepresentation. The Federal Trade Commission in the US successfully prosecuted them in the US. The FTC website fully details the case. Holzmacher is a named witness & his evidence was ruled as unreliable. I have also learned that many owners in the US have lost their entire savings with a Minuteman franchise.
In the UK over 40 stores have ceased trading (almost half the store base) and a number of former store owners are seeking legal redress. These people should be stopped before other niave people lose their livlihoods.
