On December 1, I ordered a Dell Inspiron online from Sam's Club. The Order Details stated that the computer would be delivered in 3-4 weeks. As of this date, December 29, the order has not even been shipped, yet alone delivered.

For the past two weeks, I have both called and e-mailed Sam's Club, trying to get a straight answer; however, all I get is an apology and no satisfaction. This morning I called again, and this time I was told that there seems to be a problem with my order and that Dell is saying that the computer will arrive in late January. The customer-no-service agent promised to find out the source of this delay and to send me an e-mail (in two or three days, of course), but I'm not holding my breath.

I told her that I would never again order online from Sam's Club, but that threat and the one to cancel my order (although that threat would need an OK, since Sam's Club will generally only cancel an order within one hour of placing the order) seemed to have no effect whatsoever, just another apology. I also pointed out to her if I had ordered directly from Dell, I would have received the computer in two or three days, not two months. This elicited no response.

I did learn, however, that the old adage "penny wise but pound foolish" still rings true. If I had spent an extra hundred or so dollars and bought from Dell directly, I wouldn't be typing a complaint on my five-year-old computer.
