I am writing this report to alert the general public of the un-ethical law practice that is run by Elise Mitchell. I had hired Elise Mitchell to represent me in my divorse. This was the biggest mistake that I have ever made in my life. The unfortunate thing in my case is that I have read other reports (#217306, #491860) on this website complaining about this attorney and she had done the same things to me that others had complained about her in the past. I had asked her about these complaints and she had indicated to me that these were just from dissatified previous clients. I now know that everything that these other people had complained about are completely true and unless the California Bar Association takes away her license and closes down her law pratise that this will happen to others that choose her for legal representation.
As stated in other reports, she is extremely dishonest (and most likely illegal) in her billing, extremely lazy in her representation and really should not be allowed to practise any kind of law in the state of california or any other state. I have since released her from representing me and have been told by multiple other atorney's that having her represent me would lead to complete failure because no matter who the representation is on the other side of the table the I was completely out classed. Nothing that I wanted in my divorse was awarded to me and everything that my ex requested and then some was rewarded to her.
Everytime that a document was provided to me for my comments I provided then back with my requests. My statements never made it into any document that appeared in the court room and everything that my ex put in the documents appeared in them. I was almost like she was getting paid from the other attorney to purposely silence any of my requests. She negoiated on my behalf without letting me know it and settled on things that I did not approve of.
Just as others have reported on this site, she has a relationship with Commisioner Schroeder that will work to the detrimite of any case she represents. On the day of my court case to attempt to finalize my divorse, i was thown out of the court court room by Commissioner Schroeder when trying to make a point about supporting my children that Elise had completely failed to make. Elise then called me on the phone and told me that I have to come back in a sign the document or be held in comptempt of court. I now know that this is completely false and I should have never signed the document. I would have been much better off going into court and seeing a real judge and been represented by a real attorney.
Elsie is very unprofessional in demeaner and did not handle herself according with the professional decorum one would expect of an attorney. She was repeatly unprepared any time that we went to court and did not even have the realvant documents. When she did have the documents she did not even read them so she was completely un-prepared during any questioning that came her dirrection. One time she even showed up for court a half an hour late and had I not signed in for her on my behalf then my case would have been dismissed.
After completely providing me no service whatsoever and costing me hundreds of thousands of dollars (yes that is not a misprint, she has cost me well over $100,000) she put a lien on my home for an additional $12,000 to get more money from me. She has put more effort into getting money from me then in trying to protect my assests and the future of my small children in need of an education.
I was reffered to Elise by an attorney refferal service. I am now working with that service to file a complaint with the California Bar Association, have her pay for my losses and close her business down.
Beware of Elise Mitchell. If you hire her you will loss whatever it is that you are trying to protect and it will cost you a lot of money for services that will not be provided. You will end up doing all the work and she will try to recieve any benefit from that work that she can.
