Great American Gunstock - GAGS company - a despicable experience

Dealing with Henry Pohl is asickening experience. As a businessman, he is untruthful, irresponsible, devious, and deceitful and lacks character & integrity. Heis sarcastic, obnoxious, nasty, rude. Hangs up on customers & CC reps. Thisis my opinion based on business dealings with him.

What Henry does best is: bullshitorder and/or refund status, lie about refund intent & status, putpeople on phone hold, hang up the phone and steal a customers money. I ordered (12/09) a low end stockwith traditional cheek piece. What I received was one with a pancake/europeancheek piece. I was charged $20 for freight which, in reality was postage ofless than $10. I was also charged $5 for a shipping container. Which was two (2) used boxes taped together.

He said to return the stock, which Idid along with a note requesting a refund to my CC and my paid return postage. No refund came after 2 months oflooking at my CC statement. I phoned and Henry told me they were waiting tohear from me (what BS) to know what I wanted to do (replacement stock?). Figuring I had him on the phone, I chose a replacement (MISTAKE). I was toldthey would ship one with the traditional cheek piece. Weeks passed. I phoned andwas told he would call be back. He did not. Phoned again and was told it wasnot shipped as they had no boxes; that the roof leaked, and a rain storm ruinedthe boxes.

When I did receive it (remember the$5 shipping container). It was shipped in a used box. The box was for a doz. Archery arrows and the box was turned inside out to have all the writing on theinside. This stock was completely unusableas the left flute in front of the cheek piece had been dished out with a rasp! The actual rasp marks could easily visable. (I showed the stock to several rifle/stockmakers and all concurred; useless)

I called Henry, told him I wasdissatisfied, returning it and wanted a refund, no more stocks. He said toreturn it.included in the return box (sameused box it was shipped in) was my note requesting a refund & the now tworeturn postage amounts.

No refund was received. I called andHenry informed me a refund would be given within a week. Nothing. I called again and he wason vacation but my request was taken by an employee, Brian. Nothing. I called again. Again, no refund. I called again and he told me he wasworking on it. No refund

Again called and after emphaticallystating I wanted a specific date, Henry stated a refund would be given in10 days. He stated I am in a moribund cash flow condition andhung up. Still feeling this wasunsettled, I called back and the line was busy. Weeks went byno refund.

I had enough of his bullshit. I contacted my CC company and hadthem deal with the issue.

They contacted Henry and he toldthem.

The stock I ordered was a custom order, (NOT TRUE) not subject to refund. Then, that the stock was what I orderedand that I changed my mind. He refused to give a refund. My CC Companytold him you got the stock back and you have the buyers money. You cant haveboth. He hung up on them. They phoned again, he said he'd call them back in 5minutes. He never called back. The CC co. Again contacted Henry. Hewas still adamant about giving any refund. He also mentioned that returns weresubject to restocking fee as indicated on his web site. They told him that didnot pertain to defective / wrong items authorized for return.

Bullshit. I did not order my stock through hiswebsite. I simply ordered it over the phone. At no time did he reference mystock to his website.

In fact, when I ordered it, hespecifically stated that the pictures of the stock were not on his web site. Hedescribed it verbally, as did he with the 2sd stock. Henry wrote a letter to my CCcompany stating that he replaced the stock with the cheekpiece issue. And thathe considered the issue to be closed. He offered a shipping document butnothing of both stocks being returned.

(note: both returned stocks weresubsequently offered for sale and sold off his web site. There were picturesand stock #s. How can one offer a shipping invoice (his proof of a closed issue) when its date is well prior to documenteddates of convos with me stating he'd give a refund. One, two, three dates oflater emails confirming phone calls made just minutes before wherein he promiseda refund. He even stated to the CC co. That Iwas treated in accord with his published policy of Customer Satisfaction. However, that policy indicates refunds, refunds which he lied about and refusesto honor.

Despite phone calls of promising arefund for the 2sd stock, he totally ignored that aspect when responding to myCC company. Devious & deceitful at best. He replaced the first one with anunusable POS, NOT the 2sd stock

He is like a lifeboat adrift in thesea grasping on to people in an attempt to financially survive.

When one keeps your money and theitem, they are a thief. Obviously, he feels that if peopleget tired of his antics, they will just give up.

Imagine how many business instanceshave not been reported to usacomplaints. ComHe and his company have numerous documentedcomplaints: BBB, usacomplaints.com, FTC, police reports and more. Only adelusional person can act in such a repeated reckless manner.

Henry has repeatedly lied to me.inreading these reports, all claim he has lied to them; refund, receipt, status. Clearly, Henry cannot be believed nor trusted. Twenty different people sayits black; Henry continues to say its whiteI add, that in 6/09 a nationallyknown gunshop sent a buttstock blank to GAGS for turning. They did notreceive it back. Numerous calls ignored. This customers opinion of Henry is;he's an asshole. Rude and nasty..

The wood was a $400 thin shellbirdseye maple butt stock. When I asked Henry about this and mentionedthat after 11 months, the customer still had not received it, Henrys responsewas.". THATS BECAUSE IT WASNT DONE."

When I asked when it would be done, he stated " when he gets it"Other phone calls were made and GAGScould not locate the piece of wood which they received 9 mo prior.

Henry is deserving of whatevermisfortune befalls him. Clearly, this man has no moral right dealing with thegeneral public and certainly not with customers who put their trust and faithin a simple business venture. He has now updated his web site toindicate that pieces of wood are rough cut, and include defects of varyingnature but all are useable (his opinion).in other words, buyers beware;you get what you get.
