Terrible customer service, no phone rebates and impossible to cancel

We had used Cricket in the past without any problems and so we decided to sign up with them again. We purchased a "free" phone and tried to get the rebate which they never sent to us. They kept telling us that they didn't receive one document or another and so we finally gave up on trying to get that.

We kept it for about a year and decided to cancel the phone and I called to do that with out any problem until I looked at my bank statement. They ended up charging me for my next months worth of service anyways. I told them that I canceled the service and they said that it was "canceled". I still could use the phone to make calls and even called them on it.

When I asked for a refund they said no problem. They just needed to fill out some paperwork. They asked me for my credit card number and expiration date. They also asked me to send in a copy of my bank statement and a copy of the credit card front and back. I asked the customer service guy if he was joking and he wasn't laughing. He said they only way I was going to get my money back was to send them that info.

They have my money. They already had my credit card number. All they have to do is to void the transaction right?

Stay away from them!!! Their phones are about 10 generations old and their customer service is terrible!!
