I was seeking out Electrician Apprenticeship programs in Illinois. I found multiple ads for Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrician APprenticeships with Perini Plumbing &Mechanical Contractors advertised on Buddy Board.
I applied for this opportunity and received all the following communications:

Our hiring process includes the following steps:

Step 1: Send a copy of your work history directly to [email protected]. You will receive a response email confirming receipt.

Step 2: Candidates who meet the initial prerequisites for the position will be contacted via email within 2 business days from receipt of your information. The email will contain a questionnaire asking for additional information. Please reply promptly to these questions via e-mail and attach an additional copy of your work history.

Step 3: Candidates that are considered for further review will be contacted within 1 week via email for a Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test. The Pre-Employment Skills Assessment test is a critical indicator as to whether a new employee will be successful in our organization. The pre-employment test should take anywhere from 30 - 60 mins depending on the position in which you are applying. Please take the necessary steps to review for the test accordingly. Because we rely heavily on the pre-employment test conclusions when making a determination of whether to continue the recruitment/hiring process with any given potential employee. This pre-employment test is a not just a formality in our recruiting process but rather a critical indicator as to whether a potential employee will be extended a position upon completion of the hiring process.

Step 4: If there is mutual interest, candidates will be scheduled for an in-person meeting with the hiring manager. Second and third stage in-person meetings may also be scheduled depending on the needs.

Step 5: Further information may be requested from top candidates including background checks and reference checks.

Upon completion of the hiring process, each new employee will enter our company paid training program. We take training very seriously at Perini Plumbing and work to ensure all associates are adequately qualified. Our training program is a combination of hands-on work experience and classroom instruction.

So I completed the pre-assessment questionaire. Then I ordered the Sager CTE Study giude atacost of $25.00 and took the per-assessment exam.
I have an MS in Chemistry and a BS in CHemisyty and a BS in Physics. I did very well on the exam and have 8 years of teachig experience behind me. I can tell you that the study manual is of no use in completing the exam. The guide indictaes guessing will get you 25% on the exam. This is a poor phiosophy when approaching math problems that are right or wrong.
Additionally, I sent a confirmational e-mail indicating I had completed the exam and then 6 hurs later received the e-mails indicating I should request a test from the tesing center if I had not received the original e-mail indicating the link to the exam.

So it has been 2 weeks since I took the test. Einstin himself could not have completed the 100 questions in 45 min - 1 hour. Also, a calculator or slide rule would be required to determine the answers to the questions involving trigonometric identities.
I am now assuming I have been ripped off and this is all a SCAM to get you to buy the Sager CTE Manual from "Sager Products" [email protected].
I am appalled that these people would take advantage of the unemployed who are seeking out real and valid career opportunities.
