Shady service system did not work

On February 1 there was a break in at my house. The thieves came in through the kitchen window. They stole some electric items from my living room and from my bedroom that is located upstairs. The alarm went off when they tried to steal the main television in my living room. The sensors in the living room took some time to go off hence, the thieves had enough time to steal my staff. Eventually ADT called me and notified me that my alarm had gone off. I immediately drove home from work and I also asked ADT to notify the police. The police came over in 20 minutes but by then the thieves had already left. After I had filed my report with the police. I immediately called ADT to complain about their defective equipment. The customer service representative assured me that they would send somebody out to check the equipment. I was appauled by the servce guy that had been send to my house. First, he told me that the senors system did not go off coz it was dusty, he wiped it then he tested it after he had wiped it. The alarm did not go off after he had wiped the sensors. I panicked because I did not want to sleep in the house if the equipment was not working. He told me to sleep on the couch in the living room in order to secure my house... I wanted to cry. I could not believe my ears. I told him I had been paying for the service for 3 years and right when I needed them the service did not work at all. I eventually asked him if he could change the senors and put in a new one. He did that and behold the equipment was working like magic. Before he changed the sensors he tried to sell some more equipment to me that was about $600.00... I was so devasted. The service guy was more concerned on milking me than helping me. There was no sympathy from him whatsoever. My husband was out of town and I was sooo afraid of being in the house by myself, I thought the thieves would come back again. Right now I have put the house on the market. I cannot contract with another company because we are planning to move and we don't want to be in a new contract that will demand a cancellation fee after we have moved. I am sooo dissapointed by ADT, nobody seem to care about my issue I called the main office and talked to the manager about their defective equipment and the manager was very rude. She told me that whatever equipement I recieved is what I had signed for in the contract. But I did not sign for a defective equipment I thought I had signed for equipment and service that was working. Please do not sign up with ADT.
