I posted an ad to Craigslist, that I am looking for article writers. I got email from Becky Brothman on 01/08. She sent her impressing resume showing her 4.00 GPA, top university graduation which is University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with major in Literature (creative writing).in addition to that, she included her work experience, that was not less impressive than the education. She had one year of experience in the exact same field that I am looking somebody to work for me.
I contacted her, explained her what I am looking for. And here is another surprise: she is an expert article writer in Wikipedia. She showed me couple of samples as well. Impressive. Then on Sunday (01/10) around 3.00PM till around 5.00PM we went over the directions and rate (not to mention the questionaire she runs about unrelated things: where company was incorporated, how many employees works, what are the profits etc; but regardless) we agreed that on Tuesday (01/12) I am going to get batch of articles. Tuesday comes, and I am getting an email:
"I've thought about it some more, and I really don't think I can do whatyou want at these rates (also the fact that I don't know your last nameis a little iffy, but regardless); I make a lot more at my otherfreelance position and don't want to take time away that i could bespending working for that company. Hope you find somebody else soon."
Here is the conversation and verbal agreement we made:
ME (10:19: 19 PM): It would be also great for you to write a page on wikipedia describing our site
becky1071 (10:19: 55 PM): Sure, I'm quite the wikipedia expert at this point
becky1071 (10:22: 28 PM): My other samples are mostly music business-related (contracts, music supervision requests, show proposals), so I don't know if you're interested in reading those.
ME (10:22: 41 PM): For you to rewrite and elaborate on our webcontent, how long would it take you?
Becky1071 (10:23: 44 PM): Well, as was written on the ad, i would be able to write at least 2-4 articles a day.
ME (3:55: 53 PM): My partner and I Agreed to 1k for the website task
becky1071 (3:56: 29 PM): Ok, and the articles?
Becky1071 (3:57: 08 PM): 1000 sounds doable for the website
ME (10:29: 57 PM): You do not need to handle any coding
ME (10:30: 24 PM): We are in the process of converting our site to Joomla in the next few weeks
ME (10:30: 36 PM): In that way, it will be quite easy to change webconent
ME (10:30: 40 PM): *web content
becky1071 (10:31: 23 PM): Ok, then honestly, unless you need long revisions for everything on the website, I don't see it taking longer than 3 weeks including edits.

ME (3:57: 55 PM): For wikipedia, how does 20usd per article soudn?

becky1071 (3:58: 31 PM): at that price, they'd be rather short though
becky1071 (3:58: 59 PM): if you want longer, in-depth articles, it would have to increase.
ME (3:59: 12 PM): How much would hte price be for a nice-sized article?
Becky1071 (3:59: 50 PM): it would take me about three hours, so 36 sounds reasonable to me.

ME (4:01: 59 PM): How much would you charge for these 3 sentence or so addones?
Becky1071 (4:03: 00 PM): Let's go with 10 dollars if it is as simple as it sounds.
Becky1071 (4:03: 33 PM): I'm not going to go crazy over the price of three sentences of editing.
ME (4:04: 11 PM): Ok so lets do 10usd for adding us as a reference for 5 articles then

I am pretty sure I am not the only one she is playing games on. I reported Mrs. Becky Brothman on usacomplaints.com to protect others from having their precious time wasted.
