Cross America Relocation (DOT 1832024) North Pacific Vanlines, Cross America Relocation

Unfortunately, I didnt do my homework on moving companies, which I regret. At the end of August I contracted with a broker (Beckens Moving) to move my belongings from Texas to Ohio. I needed my belongings placed in storage for a couple of months, while I went through a federal security clearance process. I was given a guaranteed moving (based on volume) and monthly storage rate, and I paid a deposit to the broker. On the day of the move, the movers finally arrived about six hours late (after saying their truck broke down and requesting to move on another day). When the movers arrived, they showed me the agreed-upon quote from the brokers. AFTER they moved my belongings onto their truck, however, they quoted a HIGHER price (35% higher), even though I was actually moving FEWER items than I originally estimated. Thats when I first realized they were from a different company called NORTH PACIFIC VANLINES (aka CROSS AMERICA RELOCATION DOT 1832024). Because I was not able to get in touch with the original brokers, and my belongings were already on the movers truck, I felt like I had no choice but to go with a different estimate based on weight (which ostensibly would have been lower than the new/higher flat rate). I paid more money to the movers and I was then given a pre-weight CAT scale ticket by the movers (Months later I realized the date and time were blacked out, so the ticket was fraudulent in the first place.). I repeated to the movers that I needed my belongings to be put in storage indefinitely, and that I would contact the brokers once I moved to Ohio and had an address (I even made sure the storage agreement and monthly fee were written on the Bill of Lading.). The movers said storage (and ultimate delivery) would not be a problem. Only a few weeks later (in Sept), I received a phone call from the movers (I later learned the persons name was Jacob). He said they were going to be making a trip to Ohio and needed my address to deliver my belongings. I was confused because my desire for my belongings to be put in storage was one of my main, and repeated, requests. When I explained it to him, he was quite hostile, but then ended up agreeing to contact the brokers to sort it out.in November, I finally moved to Ohio and called the brokers to have my stuff delivered. They said someone would call me. Eventually someone named Devin from North Pacific Vanlines called and confirmed that they had my stuff and said he would call back to arrange for a specific delivery date. Several weeks went by in which he didnt call and I repeatedly attempted to get in touch with the movers. Finally, one day when I called the movers someone named Jacob (same person from Sept. And likely the same Jaycob or Yaakov Krii mentioned in other postings) answered the phone. I said I had been trying to get in touch with someone for weeks. He cut me off and immediately began yelling (a very strange response). He said I needed to FIRST send them money (He didnt state the amount) and THEN they would send me a key to a storage unit and I could go get my stuff myself. I said the agreed-upon plan was door-to-door delivery, and he said they didnt have anyone to deliver my stuff. When I asked how they could contract with people for door-to-door delivery and then say they dont have anyone to deliver it, he said, You know what? Im not even going to give you back your stuff. At that point I asked his name (He said Jacob), and he said not to contact them again and that I should only talk to the brokers. I contacted the brokers and explained the situation. They initially said Jacob told them I had told Jacob (in the Sept. Call) to go ahead and deliver my stuff to me in Ohio (completely untrue, especially as I wasnt even in Ohio when I spoke to Jacob and had no immediate plans to be there). After several more weeks of frustration, the brokers said they ended up paying the movers, as well as the public storage facility (I didnt know where the storage facility was located, but was later told it was in a city 200 miles from where I am in OH). The brokers also reported that my belongings were about to be auctioned off by the storage facility, as the monthly fee had not been paid by the movers.in the end, the brokers essentially honored the original contract price and new movers delivered my belongings. The brokers also said they would never work with the moving company again and, fortunately, none of my belongings were damaged or missing. That said, it was a bit of a nightmare and it took over SIX weeks from the time I requested delivery to the time my belongings were actually delivered.
