Events And Adventures
GA Randy Gardner Improper cancellation without reason, Internet

Events and Adventures is a scam! The contract you have to sign is very strict and controlling. The company can terminate your contract for any reason they come up with—in the contract, you agree to be terminated for any reason that E&A cites, and agree to the reasons, regardless of what they are.

I was a member of E&A, and one of their "member hosts" (There is an event director that organizes the events, then hands off the event to an E&A member designated as a "member host", who has responsiblity to run the event.)

I had become friends with the event director, and at one point, was called by someone in the Atlanta office that my contract was being terminated without pay. The reasons cited were that there were several complaints about me. Now, E&A had not informed me of complaints. Apparently, some people were allegedly asking if the event director and I were dating. No proof of this was ever provided, and everyone I asked said they knew that we were friends, and nothing more (the event director had a boyfriend, and it just happened that he and I had the same first name).

E&A stated I was in violation of the following:

Section G ii "You attempt to abuse, use or exploit any Events and Adventures benefits of any improper, immoral, or illegal purpose"

Section G iii "Your behavior, in Events and Adventures sole opinion, threatens or may damage the reputation of Events and Adventures or may expose
Events and Adventures of any of its members to liability or harm"

Section G vii "You cause disruption or interference and Events and Adventures Events"

Section G viii "Events and Adventures receives complaints from other members regarding your actions"

E&A charges 1600 for a 1 year membership, 1800 for a 2 year membership, and 2000 for a 3 year/lifetime membership.

When I got the notice of cancellation, I submitted a letter to E&A requesting a refund. I had paid 2 grand for a 3-year/lifetime membership. I requested a refund based on 2 grand divided by 3 years to determine a daily rate of usage. The refund came out to around 1200 dollars. E&A stated that I had used 1 year of membership, and deducted 1600 from the 2000 I paid, and provided me with a $400 refund.

From what I understand, getting the refund is something that was rather odd for E&A.

I'd really just like the extra 800 bucks I requested, which I feel is a proper refund.
