On November 24 Dan Golka of United Home Improvement Centers provided me with an estimate for installation including materials for exterior awnings installation job. The total estimate agreed upon is $3,200, which he collected $1,600 as a deposit. The reason for the awnings installation is for a special event that I had planned for 12/12. Furthermore, it is stated in the contract that the job must be completed by Friday, 12/11. Two weeks ago I began calling Dan to make sure they will be able complete the installation by the due date and prior to any rain conditions being that I had not heard from him or any of his representatives after I made payment; I was unable to reach him or anyone from his company and I left over a dozen messages.
I began getting suspicious of foul play, and I asked a friend of mine to cal him for an estimate for a job and he immediately called her back. When she handed me the phone and Dan head my voice, he immediately hung up. I left him a voicemail following this incident, and I mentioned on the voicemail that I would be contacting the CSLB regarding his failure to service me or return any my calls. This is when I finally got a call back from Dan. When he spoke to me he was very rude and unprofessional. His words to me where "you don't need to be bitching I will get the job done before your event, by Friday."
He promised to send someone to take measurements on 12/5 and the agreement was that they would be back on either Thursday 12/10 or Friday 12/11 to start and complete the job depending on the conditions of the weather. They did not show up Thursday. The follwoing day I waited until 11AM after leaving several messages, no one ever showed up. I checked online, this contractor has had 17 complaints with the Better Business Bureau, I wish I had checked before dealing with them. He never provided me with a copy of his certificate of general liability insurnace either. They are definitely crooks. Please do not trust this company or pay them anything, they are thieves and will not hesistate to take your money and split!!!
