Ordered on a coupon that states Free 2-room Directtv System including standard installation ordered 2-room 1 [email protected]. Our monthly bill was to be43.99 a month tax. Coupon has picture of two recievers two remotes additional recievers 4.99 each.

Our total bill was to be $43.99 tax. We ordered the total choice plus localchannels. After installation of dish and recievers the installers calls to activate system, he puts me on the phone, at that time i learn our bill is going to be 49.99 a month taxes. I forgot to mention as a promotion we had to pay 99.95 on our credit card for the equipment and we were supposed to recieve a 49.99 a month credit fot two months to offset this charge. We agreed to this. While on the phone with the activation company Directtv they tell me our total monthly bill will be 49.00 and plus tx, and our credit for two months will be 39.99 for two moonths and we will be billed for two months for two recivers @4.99=$9.98 for two moonths. Then she tries to sell me insurance for the system, they don't service anything they install if they can't fix it via phone service and someone comes out to trouble shoot we pay for it.

In the state of Illinois we have as consumers the right to cancel any contract withih 72 hours. After calling two of the three companies involved they had our charge card account number and we were told they would charge 150.00 for programming disconnect and 150.00 per receiver @ 3 recievers this totals to 600.00 plus the 99.95 already charged to our account this equals almost 700.00 They said we had a verbally binding contract and they had our charge number so they could put what they wanted on there. I have already sent a e-mail to lisa madigan attorney general office in illinois. I woould like to know if other consumers have been ripped off like we have and to add insult to injury we now wires outside our house and over gutters because they wouldn't install wires inside they said because we had high speed internet.

I want everyone who orders Directtv to know that they are actually dealing with three different companies 1) company equipment is ordered through 2) company that installs equuipment after it is sent to you UPS 3) company that activates your service and sends your monthly bills.

You should also beaware that at any point you are not satisfied they will charge your accounts. Just for instance the programming company that is in Idaho this number is 1800-730-4742 and I tlked to Tim, when i informed him that in illinois we have a right to cancel any contract like this within 72 hours he said he would never have a busines or do business in illinois because if someone changed their mind he'd be out of business, that is when i told him all he had to do was stand behind the product he was selling and hold up to the original agreement and there wouldn't be a problem.

The whole problem is once your equipment is installed and you try to activate it there are hidden charges and they will not honor their coupon. They will tell you there is not a two room set up and a third reciver without paying for the second receiver. I do still have the coupon and will try to fax if necessary. This coupon expires 7/31/03 the number on the coupon ref #ps0403.
