Rip off company without a heart just doesn't care about customers

In good faith and with recommendations I enter the company to have my formal dress altered for my daughters wedding on May 30. Scheduled to be picked up on June 12.

I picked up the dress and stated to the owner that it didnt fit right. Also that the back hem was to short and it felt different. She said it was the right length so I paid her and when home with the dress.

Because I had some concerns about the dress I tried it on again. To my despair I found that the zipper had been put back on very crooked, almost in a C shape, which made the dress shorter in the back. The seams sewed were raveling and some had come undone. Also the shear fabric was torn next to the zipper.

I called the company and they said to bring it in to be repaired. My thoughts were, if it could not be repaired correctly and fit right, because of the service the first time, before the wedding on June 21st. So I decided to buy another dress incase it couldnt be repaired.

When I bought the other dress, I showed the altered dress to the Burdines alteration seamstress and she said that it was the worst sewing job she had seen and believed that it could not be repaired.

I took the dress back to the shop on June 13, and the owners son (Norman) was there. The owner (Gloria) was on vacation and would not be returning until after my daughters wedding. He said he could not help me but would try to repair the dress. I couldnt take the chance with the owner not being there so I didnt leave the dress.

He was very rude to my mother and I. And was speaking Spanish with a co-worker about us so we could not understand all he said.

I also showed the dress to Helen Cabraras wedding shop seamstress and she also stated that this dress was destroyed and could not be repaired.

I when to the shop on June 24 to show the dress to the owner and to get reimbursed for the destroyed dress and the alteration fee.

She said she would repair it and I said that the wedding had passed and that the company caused me to buy another dress for the wedding. Gloria was extremely rude to my mother and I. At one point completely ignoring us as we tried to explain the situation to her. She appeared not to care stating that she had enough customers and didn't care about us.

Also that I was told by two seamstresses that it could not be repaired. If she tried to repair it, the dress would not fit because the fabric was cut for the crooked zipper.

I am out the cost of the dress, $170.00, the cost of the alteration, 58.00. The cost of the new dress $170.00 and alterations by Burdines for $73.95. I have pictures of the dress.

I feel that the company showed no compassion for the situation that they put me in. I had no dress to wear for the most important day of my life. The day my only daughter was married. I was so distraught at a time that should have been filled with happiness. If I had taken the chance to have the dress repaired before the wedding by the same seamstress that distorted the dress, I would have gone to my daughters wedding without a dress or one that didn't fit. It took me 5 months to find that dress.
