PODS seems like a good idea, but they are very hard to work with. I had a few problems.
First, PODS does not prorate rent. I called to ask about this (I am using 11 days out of the month), and I was told that it was written plainly in the contract. Well, here's what the contract says:
Paragraph 2: "Term. Monthly... Tenant must pay the Lessor a monthly rent in advance, without deduction, prior notice, demand or billing statement, in teh amount set forth on the attached Addendum. Tenant must pay, in advance, at least one month's rent. Tenant will not entitled to a refund of any prepaid rent under any circumstances."
Not so "plain" and clearly a RIPOFF.
Second, PODS cannot guarantee when the POD will be delivered, and couldn't even give a general idea of time. Major bummer b/c I am trying to have movers help me unload the POD. Also, it costs to have the POD delivered each time - almost $70 per delivery. I paid to have it delivered the first time to load, and now I'm paying to have it delivered again to unload.
Third, the shipping costs to ship the POD are ridiculously expensive. Ridiculous. Do not pack your POD and expect that you can afford to have it shipped anywhere! I wanted to have my POD shipped from CA to FL and I was told that it would cost over $7500. And PODS doesn't have to do anything other than put the POD on a truck and drive it. I am moving my stuff with ABF for half that price.
