I contacted the Metal Toy Museum about selling an antique fire truck that had been in my family for several generations. After I e-mailed a number of photos of the toy, I received an offer.
I inquired about the transaction and was informed I would receive payment for the purchase and shipping. When the money order arrived, I noted that it only allowed $25 to package and ship a 16 pound, 2 1/2 foot long metal fire truck from South Carolina to Bellevue, Washington.
When I took the truck to the UPS Store, I was told the packing and shipping would be approximately $65. I also calculated what the charges would be by US Mail, and discovered it would be a good bit lower and they afforded the option of sending it with the balance COD. When I relayed this proposal to Mr. Ross, he stated that he preferred I send it UPS and assured me he would send me the outstanding balance. I took the toy to a different shipping store and received a somewhat smaller quote, as I had partially dis-assembled the truck to facilitate packing. It was now going to cost $45 and I left it to be packed and shipped.
Upon checking the tracking number several days hence, I found that the shipping store, PakMail, had sent it FedEx, not UPS as I had requested. I noted that it had been successfully delivered and delivery was accepted. This was over 3 weeks ago.
I have since sent 3 e-mails requesting the balance as promised but have not received a reply or the balance.
