I went into Alltel to purchase upgrade phones for my husband and myself. I travel for business, so when I found out that my new phone couldn't hold a signal it took me three days to bring it back in. I have the 2000 min. Plan, so as you can imagine, I use a lot of minutes on a daily basis.
When I went to exchange the phones for a version with an extendible antenna, they told me that because I had used over thirty minutes I would have to purchase new phones and could not trade the others in. I told them that their radio ad states that you have fifteen days to bring any piece of equiptment back, "NO QUESTIONS ASKED." Their response was that although it was stated nowhere that this advertisement was only for new customers, not me.
So I asked the manager if I was correct in assuming that I as a customer, am valued less and not good enough to be offered the same deals, just because I already have service with them. My answer was yes! Also when I asked if I could freeze my husband's phone without charge because he had been deployed, they told me no and that I should not have signed another year contract with the posibility being so likely that he would be sent overseas and that I knew the chances of that, so it is my responsibility to continue to pay for a phone that is not in use. Glad he could put his life of the line for people that would treat us this way.
My philosophy: "The customer may not always be right, but without them, your big name company couldn't exsist, so you might want to rethink your customer service skills!" By the way, it would only take one little class action law suit to slaughter Alltel's name all over the national papers.
