This guy responded to a CL ad I'd posted, where I was looking for someone to tie in a gas line to the rest of the house from the meter. I gave $250 upfront to do what he had to do and then was suppose to give him the remaining $500 or so at completion. The job shouldn't have taken more than a week/week and a half. Three weeks in, he's telling me that the inspector didn't show, and a lot of other crap that was "out of his control". That in itself is not what bothered me the most. He eventually stop returning calls and then he of course "lost his phone". After 2 more weeks or so of non-responsivness with an occasional email or two, pointing the finger at everyone else, he completely went underground on me... A $250 lesson..
