After listening to the shopping ambassador on board Holland america Lines ship the Westerdam and being informed by her that buying diamonds are considered only minerals and that there would be no duty charge, I did my fair share of shopping at the Holland America recommended store of Diamonds International.
I bought a Blue Diamond Tennis bracelet that had a sticker tag of $20,000. After some negotiation (with the help of Kim, our "shopping ambassador") an agreed price of $5,500.00 was come to.
Today I went to my personal jeweler to have it appraised... According to him, I should have spent NO MORE than $1,500.00. This is just unbelievable. I can not believe that this store has not been stopped. As far as I am concerned they have robbed me of $4,000.00 and there does not seem to be away to get it back.
We have filed a complaint with our credit card company and they are going to try to go after them.
