I contracted with Zeigler Transport to deliver a horse from In to Va. The driver wanted me to drive 12 1/2 miles to the highway to meet him and lead him in. Just a straight no turn 12 1/2 mile trip. I am disabled and to top it off was in bed with a Upper Resp.infection, had been all week. I am a 61 yr old female and live alone.
So I called Al Zeigler to explain to him that it was a simple straight drive and that I was ill and could not drive. I could not finish my first sentence, He began shouting profanity at me, using the F word, calling me an ignorant B, that if I was disabled I didn't deserve a horse. That he was tired of MF stupid B's like me, and on and on. I tried to stop him, I said please be professional for one moment so we can talk... More profanity... And he said "How do I even know you are disabled?"
Well I knew an APHA horse breeder in Iowa. So I told him to call her. He called her the biggest MF crook in Iowa. And hung up on me. This woman is a friend of mine and is the most honest person you will ever come across. I have bought horses from her for over 7 years, and if a tuft of hair is out of place on a horse, she will tell you about it, absolutely no surprises! Those of you who have been cheated by this guy, please trust Diane Hagerman, New Virginia, IA.
Anyway, I called back and asked to speak with Rebecca Redman the female owner listed, she immediately got on the phone, saying "I don't put up with ignorant folks either" I tried to calm her down and spoke calmly to her and all I got was more mocking about my disability..."well if you can lead a horse, why can you put your foot on a gas peddle" "you better send us your Dr's letter complete with medications" and she hung up after threatening to charge me 50.00 per hour for their lost driver... Who wasn't lost. At least she didn't use the F word!
It is no one's business what my health problems are. The end result was, I called their driver, he was a bit defensive but I told him I had no arguement with him, I didn't want any profanity or shouting I just wanted my filly. That I was on medication and that I shouldn't be driving while taking it... I would meet him at the highway, he would just have to put up with me driving slowly. He was very pleasant, and unloaded my filly and I gave him directions to bypass the mountains.
Luckily, it was all done before night time because I cannot drive at night, stigmatism. Blind as a bat!!! With or without the medication, but could not get that across to either of the owners.
I have never in my 61 yrs been cursed at so profusely. And I worked 16 yrs with hardened inmates in the Department of Corrections!!! Oh yes, and I was accused of using "big" words that the female couldn't understand. So, Ms. Redman take my fee, and go buy a dictionary!!!
