I was signed up with SEMCO for online payments, I had called them and asked them to send my bills via regular mail because I wasn't getting my statement notice via email. They told me that if I wanted to do that I could no longer use online payments. I can't get another gas service because they have this area tied up.
I received a shut off notice, so I called to try to make payment arrangements, guess what? No local payment location, it would be over 70 miles round trip to either location available for me to pay, since I had to pay by the following Monday by noon or get shut-off, well that wouldn't work so I let them shut me off, there was no way I could even get to either location in time to start up a payment option.
Now that they have shut me off, I not only have to pay the $169.00 in gas usage, but I also have to pay a $25.00 turn on fee, and a $402.00 security deposit. I don't even use that much gas on the coldest month in the winter. The customer service stinks, they are rude and unfeeling. I wouldn't complain if the security deposit was a reasonable amount.
This is the first time we have ever in 13 years we have ever gotten to the point of not being able to pay our bill on time and to be punished to this extent is ridiculous. They should be ashamed of themselves. If I could I would use Consumers Energy for my Natural Gas Needs, they are very willing to work with you when you get in a financial bind.
