On April4 I filled out info online for a FREE credit report and provided presonal information. Two months later I received my credit card bill with a charge of $79.95. After calling my card company I was transferred to a CIC customer service rep who reminded me of the "free" credit report I had requested on the above date.
He walked me through the website and said I had agreed to terms and conditions after clicking "submit". Of couse these "terms" and conditions are located below the "submit" button and the terms are written in smaller fonts stating I will have membership after the 30 day free trial and would be charged a "low" annual fee of $79.95 if I do nothing.
Of course I was not aware of this and I did "nothing" and was charged. This is ridiculous and so I plan to write to the above address (which he supplied). He said he would refund me $68.08 but no the entire amount as I passed the free trial date. Good luck to you! And a bit of advice. It could be worse. But I will NEVER be giving out any personal info via the internet unless it is with my bank or Air Jamaica / Southwest Airlines.
