On April 26th my wife and I purchased a Silver male Weimeraner puppy from the Surber's. When we met Ben Surber to choose our puppy we were given a bill of sale and it stated that the AKC papers were to be mailed. After getting the puppy home we found that the dog had a hernia. We contacted the Ben Surber and he seemed genuinely concerned but told us this was common in this breed of dogs.
My wife, chidlren and I became attached to the puppy and we were willing to over look the hernia and assume whatever vet bills came along with it. Ben Surber told my wife and I that he was expecting the AKC papers to arrive in the mail any day and that they would be mailed to us certified. As of the end of May we had yet to received the papers so I contacted AKC and found out that the liter had never been registered.
I contacted Ben Surber once again and was told by him that he did not know what was going on but he would contact AKC and find out then call me back. After two weeks without hearing from Surber I called him back and emailed him several times with no response. Finally I made contact with Ben Surber and he advised me that the AKC papers had just came in the mail and I should have them within the week.
Again two weeks later and not a word out of the Surbers and no akc papers I contacted AKC back and was advised that no liter had been registered by the Surbers. On June 26th I sent a letter to AKC asking for help and a copy of the letter to the Surbers. Within 24hrs Ben Surber contacted me and stated that he found out a woman that had been working for him was ripping him off and had not been registering his liters.
Surber appologized and said that he would mail out the liter registration immediately and it should take a couple weeks. As of today's date I have yet to receive anything from Surbers so I contacted AKC once again and was advised that they had not received any liter registrations from the Surbers. I now see that the Surber's webpage no longer exists.
As far as I am concerned the Surbers are running a poor operation and cannot be trusted about anything they say. It is unfortunate that there are people like that out there that are only concerned about making a quick $500 and could care less about the quality of the breed or anyone elses feelings.
