I purchased an Office Max brand paper shredder. The sales clerk talked me into buying an extended warranty. The shredder lasted about 3 months and quit working. When I contacted Office Max, they replaced the shredder because it was within the original manufacturers warranty period. However, the claim my extended warranty is now null and void. On his own admission, the manager told me that their shredders rarely last more than a year, thus the warranty was never intended to be effective. They would have replaced my shredder without my having to purchase the extended warranty. Never buy their Max Assurance warranty.
