We ordered some flowers for Mother's Day to send to my mother-in-law in Europe. I have to admit that I started getting suspicious when, after I'd placed the order and had some questions, I couldn't find a phone number on the web site. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Mother-in-law was happy with the flowers she got, and although they weren't delivered within the specified time window, at least she got something, right?
Now, on to the bad news. We used my husband's credit card number, which we hardly ever use. We had placed our order on May 2nd, and starting on May 3rd, weird charges started showing up on our statement — $35 here, $59 there, and all for overseas payment services that we had never heard of or signed up for — all on my husband's credit card number. The timing was uncanny.
We're canceling the credit card now and working on reversing the charges ($200 in total now), but do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from these rip-off artists. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the database where they're storing the credit card numbers is insecure (never mind that you should never store credit card numbers ANYWAY) and they're unaware that this is happening — but they're probably actively running this scam and cackling all the way to the bank.
