On 3/29/03 I ordered the Steam Buggy Plantinum based on what I had see on TV. At the time of ordering I asked for a confirmation or order number and was informed there was none.
For an exhorbitant extra charge I could have opted for faster delivery but since the S&H amount already seemed to be out of sight, I did not. So I waited and I waited. I found the web site for ordering online but it (as previously reported by others) offers no means of contact. On 5/6/03, UPS delivered a large box containing the Steam Buggy.
I opened it, intending to read up on the instructions. There was absolutely no paper work in the box at all. No user's manual or instructions. No shipping papers to indicate cost, etc. There was a small postcard for registering a 30 day limited warranty. I noted that
the card said the 30 days starts with the original date of purchase! 3/29/03? If so, I had already used that up.
Since I now had the return address shown on the box, I went back to the Internet and found their web site. I also found many of these rip off reports concerning other products sold by Tristar.
I e-mailed Tristar that I was returning the product. Also, the steam buggy had water in it when I unpacked it which lead me to believe it was already a reject from a previous customer. I have contacted my credit card company, etc., etc. And (as you can see) the battle has just begun! Anyway — don't order from
these people. You are only asking for grief. Sears makes a similiar product for $99 and I am going to check that out.
The friend who recommended the steam cleaning apparatus got hers there. I found that out too late, obviously. But she swears by it.
