Beware of this company for any look-ups or you will find your debit or credit card being charged each month for $19.95 for a service you did not even realize you signed up for.
I've seen many complaints about this company on this and other sites, so I now know it is not just me.
I did call to complain and to ask for a cancellation and/or refund, but only after waiting on the phone for a half hour or more. The operator claims that they would cancel my account and I was given a cancellation number. However, I never got the cancellation e-mail I was promised.
The $19.95 was still charged to my account, with no reversal, even though I cannot even access the service that this charge is supposed to entitle me to. Therefore, they are charging for a service that they are not even supplying.
I see that others have cancelled also, but kept getting charged each month; if that happens to me again, I will file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC does not solve individual complaints, but if they get enough of them against a particular company, they will act against that company. I would urge everyone to do the same. The FTC has an on-line form just for this purpose.
The only other alternative is to close out the account that you gave the information for and open up a new one. Of course, this will be another charge you will have to pay, but at least it will prevent Intelius from accessing your money.
