I went to David's Bridal since that is where the bride got her dress and we found awesome bridesmaid dresses. Found a great strapless dress and tried it on and it was gorgeous. We saw a stain on the dress and the very friendly clerk immediately said they would order a new dress. A month later I am called to say the dress is in and to make my appt for alterations.
My first fitting I am amazed at how huge the dress is! I had to hold the dress up to keep it from falling off. The girl doing the alterations asked me why a dress so big was ordered for me and asked if I was pregnant when it was ordered (NO i was NOT) She said it had to be at least 2 sizes too big but there wasn't enough time to reorder a different size. There was no way this was the same size that I had tried on and of course the one off the rack was gone and I couldn't check. They tell me alterations will be $70 (I had already paid $144 for the dress). And I had to pay for the alterations before they would touch the dress. As I am standing there being pinned they change it and say alterations will be $110 and was I prepared to pay that today or did they need to stop the fitting. I told them it had to be done since the wedding was fast approaching.
I was there for 1 1/2 hours because the girl couldn't get the hem right. I was supposed to pick the dress up the next Friday. The day before I am to get the dress they call and say there is a problem, that they were getting ready to start the dress but were afraid that with how much they had to take in the top that the hem wouldn't be right if they went ahead and altered where it was currently pinned and I would need to come back. I go back the next day and there is a DARK stain on my brand new dress that was NOT there a week ago at the first fitting. The lady tells me "We will get it out best we can". I said no it needs to be totally out since this is a brand new dress.
I was to pick up the dress yesterday, I go back the stain is STILL on the dress, the hem is way too short! Supposed to be a floor length dress and it's a good 3-4 inches off the floor and the bottom layer is 3 inches shorter than the sheer layer above it. ARE YOU SERIOUS? The alterations lady says i will try one more time to get the stain out and goes to steam it and says "its all out" well of course it looks like its gone because the whole dress is wet!!! I was so angry I just left. Once home I realized they didn't give me the straps incase I wanted to wear them. I call to tell them I want them and how very dissatisfied I was with the quality of the alterations and i was told that I had probably gotten make up on the dress (while it was in their possesion) and that they pretty much had to remake the entire top of the dress to make it fit. I was livid. OF COURSE YOU had to remake the entire top, it was HUGE on me and not the right SIZE! I requested a partial refund and was informed that David's does not refund money for alterations. I will NEVER use David's Bridal for anything and will let everyone know how money hungry they are for poor quality of work!
