We moved into our new home on August 1. A nice young man knocked on our door on October 20 and he explained that he was brought up in a shelter and that he was trying to earn some money to be independent. He went on with his sad story and sold us $82 of overpriced magazines that we really didn't want or need, so I selected some intended for youngsters that I could give to my grandchildren.
The young man indicated that it would be around 5 months before the magazines started their delivery. He indicated that he only goes to the main office once a month with the orders. It has been 7 months since I willingly overpayed for magazines that would have been significantly cheaper if obtained another way, to help someone with a story that I believed.
My check of $82 was deposited promptly and appeared online at my bank in two days. I thought that I was helping someone with an unfortunate history and sad life that was trying to better himself, but I realize now that he was a crook and the company is made up of scam artists and I was the victim.
I have never received a magazine, called a telephone with a perpetual busy signal lots of times but never was able to speak with anyone. After reading other complaints, I know that my willingness to help this particular someone resulted in me being taken for a ride.
