This is not fair. I had late payments years ago, and after 11 years since this account was closed, they keep re-reporting my zero (0) paid balance as negative with the 3 credit bureaus.
In the last 6 years I have disputed the item four times with all 3 credit bureaus, and NY & Co will not remove it. They have LIED and started the collection date over to keep in on my reports, but this account has a zero balance from over 7 years ago.
More confusing is why the agencies won't automatically remove it since it has been much longer than 7 years. The agencies are not looking at the original dates or they would realize this company is falsifying the dates to keep it an actively negative acct.
It could happen to you too! By the way, my credit is otherwise pretty good, and this is outrageous for this company to get away with hurting my credit waaaaaaaaay past the allowed 7 years. Did I mention it's a zero (0) balance?
Don't shop at New York & Company. They are in many malls. Walk past their store! And by all means, don't get one of their store credit cards.
