I was referred to Meachum by a person named Denise Blount, with whom my husband used to be employed, for a case in which I was ripped off by another set of lawyers who took contract services from me for which they never tendered payment.
I took my paperwork to him, along with my bank statements and a list of witnesses who were willing to attest to the the situation at hand. Meachum agreed to accept the case and file suit in my stead against the lawyers. They were Dewrell & Sacks, who are known throughout the city of Atlanta for fraud and other miscellaneous law-breaking. Meachum took Five Thousand Dollars of my money from my retirement account as payment in full and then filed a Notice of Entry as required. Four years later, he had never called any of my witnesses, had not filed any more than a brief answer, had not subpoenaed witnesses, nothing. The statute of limitations on my case was five years. For six months, I worked for Meachum cleaning up his "real estate department."
It turned out that not only had he shoved my case and refused to pursue it because Dewrell Sacks offered him a "deal" to start his own real estate department if he would sack my case, but that he had allowed several people who had no real estate experience to work for him—which is why he hired me to clean it up. While there, I discovered that he had not only handed my case to a deceased alcoholic who had no bar license and turned up dead in the streets, but that he had also turned my case over to a disbarred attorney who was doing "side work" for him, but who was no longer allowed to practice law in this state. I also never found my file anywhere in the office and he refused to discuss it with me while I worked there. Eventually, I ended up quitting not only because I found out he had done a conflict of interest deal with Dewrell Sacks, where he shoved my case in a drawer and did not pursue in it exchange for a real estate deal with Countrywide (who used to be Dewrell Sacks main clients) and First American Title Insurance Company), but because we had negotiated a certain salary and he was paying me $4,000 a year less than we agreed upon.
Meachum goes all over the place touting himself as the "lawyer to the stars, " stating he has served clients like Dallas Austin, and Wesley Snipes and Denzel Washington. He is very star-struck and celebrity-oriented, but I wonder if he had so many millionaire clients, why he would rip off an old woman's retirement fund and not reimburse her money, as I have requested so many times? With people like Brian Jordan in the front zipper of his pants—as he has stated—and with being able to do thing like write checks for nearly $900k from his firm's escrow account (money that was supposed to be use to pay off loans and file deeds for recording and pay intangibles taxes and things that were collected on HUD1s), one would not think he would need my little $5,000.00 that desperately. I reported him to the Georgia Bar, but the lawyers here are a brotherhood who don't sue one another even when they themselves break the law.
I also informed First American Title (FATIC) that during my audits that Meachum wrote a check for more than $900k to Le Jardin, a company held by Brian Jordan, to purchase private property in Jordan's estates. I have a copy of that check and all evidence needed showing his malfeasances and other improprieties surrounding my case.
I went to church with Dallas Austin in Columbus GA and knew his family. He was raised better than to do business with non-people and mediocre lawyers like Dan Meachum, who would brag about the fact that he played a very mediocre low-key role in helping Wesley Snipes get sent to tax prison for three years.
Also, I never saw nor heard from Denzel Washington while I was there, but it's likely because Meachum said the 'n-word' to his face one time too many. For a lawyer, he has no qualms about calling people, even stars who are several cuts above him in character, n-words.
Meachum is known by other employees as well for promising them salaries that he never pays them, a couple of whom have called me to use my resources and contacts in the legal community to find other work so they can, in their words, "get away from him." One of Meachum's former employees, Shonna, stated, during the six months that I was there, that he was a "piecework" lawyer who had screwed many other low-hanging clients (as he referred to people like me who are not stars and celebrities) and left them hanging out there and messed up their cases because he did bad work.
This information came from at least two former employees, Shonna and Lori, who had worked with him for more than a year each. I was able to experience what they were saying for myself.
