This company, AllSource, called me when I was at work and distracted. They asked me what magazines I liked and said they had to do a credit check. They said they had the numbers to my card and asked if they could run the check. I said yes.
They called back and said I had subscribed for 5 years but only had to pay for two and a half. I said I wasn't interested and he said that the first payment had already been deducted and that I had entered into a contract.
I got the magazines for a while, but then they quit. I was still getting billed and the number they had given me to call didn't work. I also couldn't find them online. I canceled my card.
They called again saying that they were getting a collection agency. I told them why I did it. They said that I was still responsible for the contract. I asked if I could change my magazines per our agreement from their second call. I gave him the new magazines I wanted. The next month, they started double billing me.
I checked my account statement and got the phone number off of it. It called a trucking company in the same area.
I canceled my card again, they called again. We straightened out that mess. I started getting the magazines again for a few months. November I had not gotten magazines for four months. I was still paying, so I canceled my checking account. They called two days later.
I told them that I had contacted the BBB and did an inquiry. I felt that they were a scam, especially because of the multiple company names, was dissatisfied as a customer, and wanted to cancel the account. They said that it would cost $800 to buy out the contract. I didn't have the money so I gave them a different card number, and they said i'd start getting magazines again before the end of the month.
That night, they called my parents' house, a number I never gave them, and harassed them. I tried calling the customer service number they gave me, but there was no answer. It's March, I haven't received a single magazine, am still paying 40 dollars a month, they won't answer their phone during business hours, and their message inbox is full, so I can't leave a message with them. I have since filed 2 bbb complaints. One about Jokoda group, the parent company, and one with Allsource/STJ, the name of the company I actually talked to.
