I have been shopping at this grocery store frequently and I weighed some apples on scales in the fruit & veg section and the scales weighed the apples ($1.69 per LB) at 1.5LBs, therefore I should have been charged $2.54. When I went to the checkout, the same bag of apples was weighed as 3.22LB and I was charged $5.44. I had been to three different registers over the last few days and all three were doubling weight and the price.
When I reported this to one of the green grocer employees, he wasn't concerned at all. I asked if he wanted me to show him the scales that I used and he wasn't interested. He just told me that he would ensure that the scales were being better aligned in future.
Customers don't often weigh their produce, so this is why they simply don't question what they are being charged at the checkout. Is this happening in other Lucky stores or grocery stores?
This is nothing more than outright theft! How long has Lucky been double charging its customers?
