My husband (who has been an illustrator for over 25 years) was hired by an Atlanta Georgia, "publishing company" called Mercury publishing house Inc. To do a book cover and mechanicals and logo for a book that he (Khanelis) was publishing. He promised to pay my husband around $3000 for the cover illustration, mechanicals, and the price for the logo they would work out later.
This publisher emailed my husband three to four times a day for two months with changes and revisions etc. Then he told my husband that "he", Wes was falling behind and he was going to miss his Christmas printing. My husband sent all of these revisions (high res files) to the printer (at his own cost) and then Alexander Khanelis (so called publisher) made more changes. My husband made the changes again and again paid out of his own pocket to send out the high res files to the printer and Alexander and Boris Datsenko (appliance rip-off guy and CEO of Mercury Publishing House INc) refused to pay Wes for the Illustration or any of the other work done.
Khanelis says that he can't sell the book, but low and behold there it is advertised for sale on Barnes and Noble (who don't seemed very interested in the fact that they are aiding and abetting COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT, and Borders, Amazon.com etc.
We have tried to collect from him by using a collection agency and he just laughs in their faces. Beware of this person and Boris Datsenko. Funny how one can go from appliance repair to CEO of a Publishing company. God Bless America!
