I would like to set the record straight on this "questionable" Publisher. I was lead to believe that this was a "real" publishing company or otherwise I would not have gotten involved with them. I quoted them (Mercury Publishing House) $1500 for an illustration and the graphics for the wrap around jacket. I asked for $450 up front and received it. They made many changes to my original illustration after the sketch had been approved. Two and a half months later, and in excess of 50 changes, because they didn't know what they were doing with type, copy, logo, etc. And would not listen to any of my advice. I was out of pocket the cost to send printing files to the printer, and my inability to accept other projects because of the changes that were made. I informed them that there were such extensive changes and additional requests (ie logo design) that the original cost would have to be increased to include all of the ridiculous changes. At first they agreed to pay the difference but only when I had sent the files to the printer. After everything was at the printers they refused to pay the balance owing. So I am out of pocket $2,550.00 but I have learned my lesson. I will never work with a person like this again. I took Mercury Publishing House/Alexander Khanelis to collections, but they were unable to collect as they refused to pay. I just want to prevent this from happening to any other artist who may get involved with this bunch. Please beware of Mercury Publishing House.
