I was on a third party website, some NBC thing or something when I saw an add for grant writing software. It asked me to enter my name and zip code to see if I "qualified" for a free cd.
Of course I did! Because everyone does! That's their ploy, they tell you you qualify for a free cd and all you pay is $3.95 shipping and handling, then 7-10 days later you're supposed to receive this amazing tool that is going to change your life!
Well, 3 weeks later I finally got the cd, and then a couple days after that I had a charge on my account from MyFitness.com for $29.95. Apparently this grant company gives your account information to other companies... I should have known better.
So tonight, before inserting the disc my husband wanted to make sure it was legit, and not a virus or something. So he went to usacomplaints.com and TADA! There were already four reports about how this company has done the EXACT same thing to other companies. What I should have done is check before I gave them my information.
PLEASE people do not fall for their tricks, I tried to call them at the number on the charge on my account but its disconnected, go figure. Now I have two disputes on my account from them, luckily my card is closed now so that this cannot continue to happen. I've also checked back on my account and now I see that I too got the $74.95 charge for some bogus membership fee... Why would I pay a membership fee per month of close to a hundred dollars to get free money from the government? That's right, I wouldn't which must be why they didn't inform me of that fact in the first place.
Just don't purchase anything "free" online without checking ripoff report first!
