In Jan I paid GoCopyright.com to copyright my website. They billed my credit card for payment.
I did get an email from this LA, California company saying the paperwork was filed. They gave me NOTHING except a single FedEx number that showed a parcel originating in Canada and arriving in Washington DC (presumably the copyright office).
By June no copyright had been filed. I could get no response to email status checks with gocopyright, so I tracked down their phone number (310) 492-5608 by finding another business in the same building as them.
They said don't worry, the Fed gov is backlogged, it could take 1 year. I waited.
Beginning in January I have sent numerous emails to the gocopyright, with no response. I called them in Febuary 16 complaining @ the number above. The guy told me he'd track it down and promised to call me back next business day.
I told him I just wanted the paperwork they filed and I'd mail the paperwork to Washington DC myself. He refused.
I have been unable to get a phone answer again, just a voice message and no email replies.
I have no recourse because I paid via credit card. It's over 1 year ago now and I cannot do a chargeback at this late stage in the game.
I assert this is a FRAUD business. They have the perfect setup. The billing amount is relatively low ($59 in my case). The "registration" takes longer than the credit card dispute window.By the time you find out they did nothing, you can't get your money back. And the amount is low, so how much time is someone going to spend to fight it.
They don't realize it's about the principle. Please, don't waste your money or 1 year like I did. Too bad so many people have no morals these days.
